End of the First Month

Wow...where has the year gone. We are already through one month and I still feel like I am spinning my wheels...oh well, somethings never change.
I have to say that sometime parents are the hardest part of my job. I have an open door policy and really encourage my students' parents to take an active part in their education ...that being said I have to say that when parents are a detriment or distraction they should not spend a lot of time in the room.
I have one parent that is in total denial about her son's disability and blames everything on everyone else but him. He has no responsibility for his actions, misdeeds, lack of work production, nothing.?!?!?!?!?!?!  I makes me crazy...he is a bright kid and capable of sooooooooo much more but!!!!!!!
I keep saying to myself that I have to bite my tongue and try and make the best of it but sometimes it is soooooooo hard...
On a positive note, we are decorating for Halloween and hoping to win the decorated door this year. Ok, my aides are decorating and the students are contributing. I have absolutely NO artistic talent but my aides are great. I will post a  picture when its finished.

BE GOOD HUMANS

  1. I have another one for you. SO in our pre k classroom we have a reward system. If the child does the very minimum throughout the day they go home with a happy face. If they do a super job such as singing loudly or coloring between the lines or even just sitting and reading quietly they get a SUPER STAR. With this superstar they receive a dum dum lolipop.

Well, we have one child that is active and we are trying to modify this behavior. We point out the good things he does and give him superstars for trying. The other day he absolutely did not receive a superstar, he went home with a straight face. in addition to that, his mother was late picking him up. Well mom finally decided to arrive and our child begin to cry that he wants a lolipop. So the mom says, "you dont need that little lolipop I can get you a bigger better one! LOL WHAT?!?!?!

We are trying to teach good behavior through a reward system and then she comes out with this nonsense. THEN she asks, "what can I do to help my child's behavior which I cannot stand?"
